Am I Co-Dependent?

Ask yourself these questions. Do You:
Need and seek approval from others for your own sense of identity and self-worth?

Give in to others' demands and apologize rather than standing up for what you want?

Tend to dismiss your own views of situations unless or until your views are verified by others?

Suffer from stress-related physical problems such as migraine headaches, insomnia, stomach or back problems?

Find yourself absorbed in other people's lives to the exclusion of your own?

Have a strong fear of being abandoned even to the extent of staying in a poor relationship to avoid being alone?

Ignore your feelings so often that you have a difficult time identifying or expressing them?

Find it hard to make decisions for fear your decision could be "wrong" in other people's eyes?

Feel empty, bored or worthless if you don't have a crisis in your life, a problem to solve, or someone to help?

Judge yourself too harshly and feel that nothing you do is good enough?

If you answered yes to two or more of thse questions, you would benefit from counseling. For more information, contact Elysse Beasley, SrPE.
